Decernarea Premiilor Oscar va avea loc in 26 februarie, 2012, la Teatrul Kodak din Hollywood. In cursul zilei de astazi au fost anuntate nominalizarile la Oscar, in mare parte previzibile.

Filmul "Hugo", regizat de Martin Scorsese, a reusit sa obtina cele mai multe nominalizari la Oscaruri (11), fiind urmat de pelicula franceza "The Artist".

"Hugo", ,,The Artist", ,,The Descendants" sau ,,Moneyball" au intrat in cursa pentru cel mai bun film din anul 2011, in timp ce la categoria celor mai buni actori, se lupta pentru trofee Viola Davis, Michelle Williams, George Clooney sau Brad Pitt.

Remarcabila este absenta lui Leonardo DiCaprio de pe lista nominalizatilor la categoria cel mai bun actor. Nici Ryan Gosling, laudat de critica pentru rolul din "Drive", nu a reusit sa ajunga pe lista celor cinci actori nominalizati.
